Does anyone know if ATTWS is going to offer the Sony Ericsson T62U
phone? According to this site, it is tentative but our local ATTWS Store
doesn't know if it will happen or not. Our neighbor (Cingular) is
offering it but not ATT.

Will there be new plans for the T62u or is the AMPS going to be
disabled? Or will it use the current MB plans and charge roaming for MB
Nat Network.

Yes they will be offering it. When, they say soon. But no estimated
date.

So far I haven't heard of any new of plan changes or additions. But
then again in my experience we don't get a whole lot of notice before
things change.

A word of warning here. I've heard Cingular users with these phones say
that they cannot roam on some TDMA networks that TDMA Cingular customers can
run on.

The ATT version may be different.. The phone seems thicker than the
Cingular version

I was just in Madison, Wisconsin where they do not have GSM service as of
today. The AT&T rep said that they expect the phone to be available by July
14-17. Hopefully so since my kid will be going to Wisconsin Univ. in the
fall. I live in southern Calif. and he has a T68i that was useless there
(and poor here).

Well, then July 15 is going to be decision time for me. Does anyone have any
real-world experience (never mind the technical specs on the manufacturer's
pages) with the T62u as regards reception strength? Is it better than the
T68i (which I myself have not hated really as much as many(most)people in
the group)? How is it compared to the Siemens S46?
Anything that would allow me to make an informed decision -- my main
concern is reception quality -- would be greatly appreciated.

I just got my T62u yesterday, so far it's a good phone, little on the big
side for me but has a great display and I really like the "joy stick" for
navigating the menu. It has very clear sound and reception in my "home" GSM
covered area, I'm going to be traveling alot the next week so we'll see how
it does then, the area I'm headed to has spotty coverage as it is so should
be a great test on how it navigates the networks.
I'll post a updated reply when I get back if anyone is interested.
