Anyone moved to prl 803 yet? I just downloaded it last night and didnt
really feel a difference here (charleston south carolina.) I will be
going to DC Tommorow by car so I wil report back how i roamed on the
way there. I should be covered but then again I should have been
covered in asheville nc also... but i wasnt. Also I might have
problems getting a signal in NC Due to the fact that some towers might
be gone or not powered.

Mathew, just the person I need to chat with.

I'm a Verizon customer in Charleston and am interested in hearing
about COVERAGE, of course, around eastern SC.

Does your Alltel phone roam over to Verizon's system under the PRLs
you've used when Alltel's signal is toast?

Where are the biggest dead zones you know about?

Thanks for the help....Number portability coming!!

3600 planes with transponders are burning 8-10 million
gallons of kerosene per hour over the USA. R-12 car air
conditioners are responsible for the ozone hole, right?

Hmmm. I should have read this earlier so I could warn him to get a full tank
of gas and some snacks before he headed up I-95 into Virginia. I suspect
finding services was difficult around Sept. 19th!

Not to mention taking a huge trailer full of GENERATORS to sell...(c;

Every street corner had its own custom generator dealer for a month
after Hurricane Hugo hit Charlietowne in 1989.....at amazing prices,
of course....way over retail.

There were even quite a few generators for sale in the Charleston
paper this past week...(c;

I have two Hondas.....a 5500 VA, 11hp construction beast and the
little EU1000i kilowatt inverter that powers my 5000 Btu wall AC in
the truck in summer and heats it in winter....

But, we digress from PRL 803....(c;

I'm Back and I must say that im impressed. I had a Digital Signal all
the way up there along 95. Even in DC I got some of the best signal
ever. Pretty much constant 5 bars. I even got a great signal in the
metro (Subway.) All that said. I roamed on the Verizon network the
entire time but national freedom covers that. Larry as for Charleston
Coverage it depends on where you are in charleston. Im a
Summerville/North Charleston person and I rarely hit dead spots.
Areas like Mount Plesant work perfectly except some of the residental.
Folly beach is spotty as well as Isle of Palms. As for Downtown I
really dont know. I try to avoid it but when im there (Market Area) I
get a decent signal although I have never really payed much attention
to it. If you give me a more specific region in the tri-county ill
pay more attention to it next time im in that area.

Question: Who are alltel's roaming partners? Who can I roam on for
freee basicly with national freedom because we all know alltel has a
crappy network compaired to other companies like verizon. Can I roam
on sprint towers, cingular, ect?

Verizon is Alltel's roaming partner in Virginia. Alltel has two "zones"
in Virginia. One is in Richmond and Virginia Beach/Tidewater area (SID
83) and around Charlottesville/Culpeper area (SID 424). The rest of
Virginia would be covered by Verizon on SIDs 18 (DC/Baltimore), 170
(Richmond/Tidewater) and 502 (Roanoke).

For other partners, go to Justalurker's website and look for his
interpretation the Alltel PRL 603 (a little bit dated, but pretty
close).
